The endorsers list grows more impressive each day, and now
includes Jane Fonda, Jonathon Kozol, Mark Leno (California Assemblyman), Rickie
Lee Jones, Culture Clash, Marie Howe, Michael Franti, and many more.
There is a battle shaping up over high school walk-outs on
Nov. 2nd. Students from LA to NYC to North
Carolina have been threatened with punishment for
taking part in the protests, and teachers and administrators are being
intimidated from supporting these students. Check out the youth/student page
for more on this. And find the ways to support the youth who are stepping to
the forefront of this movement to drive out the Bush regime. We need the
courage, defiance, and creativity of these youth in this movement, and we must
not allow repression to prevent high school students from walking out and
joining the protests on Nov. 2nd. And check out a new piece from
Sunsara Taylor to student organizers about busting this movement out from now
until Nov. 2nd.
The World Can’t Wait Encampment Outside the White House is
holding a speak-out on Monday, Oct. 31st, against torture,
detentions, and repression.
The Center for Constitutional Rights is holding a one-day
hunger strike on Nov. 1st to demand an end to the torture and
inhumane treatment, and lack of any legal rights for detainees at Guantanamo
Bay.
Word is spreading about Nov. 2nd– from radio
interviews, newspaper articles, to radio ads on Hot 97 in NYC, fliering
blitzes, stickers, and emails. But everyone reading this needs to take
responsibility for spreading the word to millions more in the next 2 days. Get
the PSA’s played on the radio, pass out fliers and stickers, and email everyone
you know (sample mass email ). Tell everyone: be there on Nov. 2nd,
the beginning of the end of the Bush regime.
