October 26, 2005 – The punk group Anti—Flag has just posted their unreleased song, "Welcome to 1984," exclusively on the website of the national organization The World Can’t Wait — Drive Out the Bush Regime (www.worldcantwait.org).
From Anti-Flag: " ‘Welcome to 1984’ is an acoustic track written and recorded directly after we finished the Rock Against Bush Tour across the USA in Oct 2004. It focuses on the insanity and doublespeak of the Bush Regime that is taking the USA down a path that is eerily similar to the police state depicted in George Orwell’s novel. "We encourage you visit www.worldcantwait.org and get involved in any way you can!" The World Can’t Wait — Drive Out the Bush Regime is calling for nationwide school and job walk—outs on November 2, 2005, the one—year anniversary of the Bush election. The mass gatherings that day will mark the birth of a national movement with a single, practical objective: to drive out the Bush regime and reverse its program of war, torture and theocracy. At last count, 64 cities are planning actions, including many high schools and colleges. A World Can’t Wait encampment has been in front of the White House since October 14. Their banner reads: "8 (7, 6) Days Until the Beginning of the End of the Bush Regime." From the World CanÕt Wait Call: "The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come… People who steal elections and believe they’re on a ‘mission from God’ will not go without a fight. There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party… What we do not resist, we will learn—or be forced—to accept…The future is unwritten—which one we get is up to us." The World Can’t Wait Call has been signed by thousands; some of the artists involved are Saul Williams, Kathleen Hanna (Le Tigre), Rickie Lee Jones, Steve Earle, Boots Riley (The Coup), Ozomatli and Tom Morello.
