All indications — most importantly, Trump bragging about sending “his” armada to surround Iran — are that the U.S. will likely attack Iran with days, or hours.
Since late December, the strongest uprising of the Iranian people against the reactionary Islamic fundamentalist Khameini regime, has involved millions building upon the stunning Women, Lives, Freedom movement of 2022. As reported in Revcom.us, the uprising happened in a time of increasing economic desperation, water and fuel shortages for 80 million Iranians, connected to U.S. sanctions, global climate change. Shopkeepers in Tehran struck over economic demands.
As described in that report, the uprising has spread beyond economic issues as a righteous rebellion “against fascist tyranny and torture chambers, bitter oppression and poverty, the medieval oppression of women, the systematic discrimination against religious, ethnic, and national minorities, and the suppression of speech, thought and art.” All classes, across 180 cities took part.
➡️ See interview with Osyan, (which means “rebellion” in the Farsi language), a group of Iranian and Afghan women, was interviewed by the women’s Turkish publication feministçerçeve (Feminist Framework) about the January 2026 uprising in Iran and the current situation.
Thousands of people were killed – estimates run above 7,000 and many more shot by the regime’s forces, some with machine guns and by rooftop snipers. Medical centers reported thousands injured by shots to their eyes. Medical workers were kidnapped for treating the protesters; the brutal Iranian prisons are filled. The regime executed unknown numbers, halted temporarily when Trump expressed his fake outrage at the killings while calling protesters “terrorists” and threatened intervention in January.
Internet and all communications have been shut down by the regime for a month, meaning that only people with satellite connections can get word out. But we’ve heard today that executions of political prisoners have begun again, while “talks” in Oman between representatives of the fascist Iranian regime and the Trump fascist regime begin.

The U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and other warships and fighter plans are spread around the Gulf, set up to strike Iran. Whether their target is so-called “nuclear” facilities (as David Swanson writes — those could be nuclear power or nuclear weapons, but the imperialists don’t want Iran to have either) or other infrastructure, or population centers, is unknown.
The dimensions of such an attack by the U.S. could open up a much wider war, given the interests of Israel, Russia and China in the region.
What about the interests of humanity? It is to support the struggling Iranian people in their fight to remove their own regime, not by imperialist intervention, but by solidarity:
US — Hands off Iran!
— and — Down with the Islamic Republic!
