No one following U.S. government actions over the last decades can fail to see the similarities between the U.S. torture camp at Guantanamo and the U.S.-sponsored CECOT camp in El Salvador. After 24 years of illegitimate imprisonment in Guantanamo, the Trump fascist regime has marshaled $170 billion to deport and imprison millions, sending more than 700 through Guantanamo.
This includes Cubans removed from the U.S., the first Cubans deported by the U.S. to Guantanamo, not to Cuba itself, but to the U.S. base of Guantanamo which is located, against the wishes of the Cuban government, on Cuban soil since it was taken in 1898 following what is called here in the U.S. as the Spanish-American War and is called accurately in Cuba as the Cuban War of Independence from Spain.

Sunday, the 60 Minutes feature critical of CECOT was suppressed just before airing by the new Trump-approved head of CBS, Bari Weiss. But it was leaked and spread around the internet. It’s worth watching.
