We’ve almost finished We Are Not Your Soldiers class visits for the spring semester, just as the Commander-in-Chief of the military prepares an unprecedented military parade in the capitol on June 14. Some are joking about Trump’s celebration of his own birthday; they may be missing his startling move to turn the military into a force loyal to himself over anything, including the U.S. Constitution. See details later in this message to respond.
Through April, six veterans made presentations to classes in New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey and California at middle schools, high schools, a community college, two private colleges and three public colleges. Two of the veterans were interviewed for a podcast and another spoke to a meeting of college activists in Florida.
We have raised a little over half our goal for 2025 so we need to raise the remaining funds for the upcoming semester — to pay stipends to the veterans, cover their travel expenses as needed, communications and for materials which are provided to the students. Your help is necessary to make this happen.
We have received a $1000 matching grant from a generous donor! Please give now and your donation will be doubled until we receive a total of $1000 in new contributions (making them value as $2000).
See these clips from a synchronous (all on-line) history class at a public NYC college which was addressed by both Joe Urgo, a Vietnam veteran, and Henri Henrikson, an Iraq veteran.
Oppose Trump’s military parade:
Saturday June 14, RefuseFascism.org calls on you to join with others in a non-violent march to the White House. Let us show the world that we will not shrink from our responsibility to act in the name of humanity. We refuse to accept a fascist U.S.A. The capitol must not be ceded to Trump’s fascist parade. >> RSVP here
June 13-15 in DC About Face Veterans and Veterans for Peace will also protest the parade.
