Here in NYC the physical scars of the attacks on 9/11, killing over 3000 people, have been covered over with concrete and marble. But the global scars from the imperialist revenge inflicted on millions across the Middle East are innumerable and unjustified. Black sites, the torture camp at Guantanamo, new forms of torture. 65 million refugees driven from home. More than one million killed in the war “of” terror launched in 2001.
Our grief was NOT a cry for war, but we failed to stop the U.S. war on the world, which is part of the legacy of the 9/11 attacks. September 2001, at Times Square:
“Dick” Cheney, an architect of that war of terror, got a little news this week for supporting Harris against Trump for U.S. president. As a former leader of World Can’t Wait, Sam Goldman said this week:
Cheney’s endorsement of Harris, does mean something, but not what many want it to mean. It’s not the arch neocons moving left. It’s not even just the Democratic Party moving right. In this period of increasing global crisis without a “reasonable” Republican Party, we are seeing a transformation of the Democratic Party, an often desperate mutual embrace under their branding of anyone and everyone committed to the stability of American Empire over the inevitable riskiness of fascist transformation.
You can catch Sam every week on the Refuse Fascism podcast and we hope you do.
If you caught the debate last night, and stayed past the fascist rantings of the Orange Bully, you got to hear the current war criminal vice-chief criticize him for making the U.S. “weak” to the rest of the world. She closed with a promise to ensure
we have the respect that we so rightly deserve including respecting our military and ensuring we have the most lethal fighting force in the world…
