This week, three of the men detained at Guantanamo agreed to life in prison, in relation to the 9/11 attacks. After decades of their imprisonment — and documented torture at the hands of the U.S. — it proved impossible for the government to ever conduct a trial under the charade of the “military commission” process concocted by the Bush regime. Expectations are that the three will remain at the forever prison permanently.
Any concept of justice through a due process of law was smashed when the U.S. set up the torture prison outside the law. There are still three men who have not been charged and yet are held there, and 16 who have been cleared for release and yet have been held for as long as 14 years in limbo. JOIN the vigil!

There are different layers to the answer of why we won’t shut up about closing the U.S. torture camp at Guantanamo.
on the basis of morality, holding people outside the law is utterly immoral.
on the grounds of the rights of human beings, the prison gets a score of zero.
Guantanamo has set a precedent that the most powerful state and military can get away with depriving people of their rights, torture them and face no consequences; rather, such crimes enforce the invincibility of the empire.
