1 dead, 78 injured in anniversary commemorating protests that heralded the overthrow of 30-year Al Bashir dictatorship. According to Central Comm of Sudanese Doctors, Al Tayeb Abdelwahab,19, died after a bullet damaged his femoral artery when he was shot in the thigh; 22 protestors were injured by shotgun fire as cartridges exploded with shot pellets. Dozens of protestors across Sudan were injured by tear gas canisters, as well as a report of a protestor ran over by a Security Force vehicle; sound bombs and rubber bullets used to disperse demonstrators. Coup forces surrounded El Arbaeen Hosp during processions returning from demonstrations outside parliament… fired bullets and sound bombs within earshot of staff and patients. East Nile Hosp had to close the emergency dept due to the assault by security forces on doctors and medical staff. Unified Office of Doctors: the siege launched on hospitals was a blatant violation by coup authorities which violate patient rights…appeal to all doctors to assist hospitals in treating the wounded and injured. Resistance Comm in Darfur were out in full force in El Fasher, Nyala, Zalingei, Ed Daein, El Geneina, Sirba Saraf Omra. Demonstrations in Pt Sudan, Kosti, Atbara saw mass arrests and cases of children detained in Kosti. Kosti Resistance Comm witnessed brutal use of bullets and tear gas…number of detainees exceeded 50, including children and girls as well as pre-emptive arrests of activists. Pt Sudan witnessed widespread attacks by Security Forces on peaceful demonstrators using tear gas, whips, batons. Authorities shut down main bridges that link 3 cities of the capital. However, protestors were seen climbing the containers and lifted motorcycles over them to cross into Khartoum and resume their march towards the palace. Dabanga

Thousands marched in Khartoum and other cities against the military coup that plunged the country into political turmoil and aggravated its economic woes. Wed’s protest was the latest to pressure the ruling generals, whose takeover triggered near-daily street protests demanding civilian rule. Called by pro-democracy groups, demonstrators marched amid tight security around the Presidential Palace, which has seen violent clashes…rallies elsewhere, Gadarif and Pt Sudan and war-ravaged Darfur. The army’s takeover upended transition to democracy and sent the country’s already fragile economy into free fall, with living conditions rapidly deteriorating. Crackdown on protesters has killed mostly young men and injured thousands. Al Jazeera

Emergency Lawyers reported 100 detainees from Soba Prison were transferred to prisons in Debek, Kosti, Pt Sudan…describe this manoeuvre as a crime, an insidious operation to keep detainees from meeting relatives or lawyers. The lawyers stressed they would utilise every legal course of appeal local, regional, even international to resolve inhumane, flagrant violation of their rights. Dabanga

Grenade attack targets worker camps in oil fields in W Kordofan with rocket-propelled grenades. Oil Workers Assoc announced activities at Balila oil fields halted …attackers targeted guards and closed field worker camps, preventing water from reaching fields…locked roads leading to oil fields. Last month armed men threatened field workers, demanded they leave immediately…attacks followed violent intimidation on Ballot and Azraq fields. The armed group distributed leaflets…leave with you6r family before you perish. Dabanga

Authorities filed a complaint against the head of Combating Sexual Violence Agency, Sulima Ishaq, over rape cases of protesters by Security Forces. State Criminal Prosecution summoned her, accused her of leaking information about the rapes to UNITAMS. The case was open under article 47 of the Criminal Act (offence against the state); she had been released on bail. The complaint is related to a report by UNITAMS Head Perthes to UN Sec Council citing rape and gang rape by Security Svcs of women and girls who participated in anti-coup protests Dec 19.
