Khartoum saw mass protests again Sat and Sun as part of the peaceful revolutionary escalation announced by Resistance Comm for the last week of March. Khartoum, Bahri and Omdurman government forces reacted violently with ammunition and tear gas, which left 1 protestor dead, 24 wounded, 5 with gunshot wounds. Sudanese Doctors Comm: 3 demonstrators were wounded by ammunition from automatic assault rifles, 7 cases of body injury with tear gas canisters, 4 cases of injury as a result of beating with batons. Some demonstrators sustained superficial wounds after a stampede drove them into barbed wire. Joint forces launched arrest campaigns and raids on homes in Umbada El Hara, and launched stun grenades in an attempt to drive revolutionaries off streets. Mediation including UN, AU and IGAD will launch within 2 weeks aiming to restore civilian-led government. UNITAMS head spoke about violence, protests and difficult economic conditions, increased tensions between and within security forces: First priority for mediators is to reach agreement on constitutional structure of government, parliament and judicial institutions. They requested the military end violence, release political detainees and lift State of Emergency.
