Government forces massively deployed to disperse protests used tear gas, stun grenades and water cannons in Khartoum. Forces fired tear gas inside a bus, forcing passengers to flee, arrested and raped a univ student while her female colleague succeeded to escape. Combating Violence Against Women Unit confirmed a girl was subjected to sexual violence during protests. Eyewitnesses took the girl to the hospital, said she was subjected to gang rape by 8 soldiers who took her belongings. Dec 2021 forces raped 8 women after arrests. Resistance Committees called for demonstrations. Unified Office of Doctors: 35 cases of wounds caused by cartridge guns in the head, neck, chest, abdomen. The group warned against use of fatal weapon that killed 3 protesters. Sudan Tribune

Protests in towns and cities call for the end to the junta erupted as a result of soaring prices for bread and basic commodities as economy falters. R Nile State witnessed large demonstrations; closed Freedom Bridge for hours in protest against soaring prices, military coup; railway workers carried out a strike calling for their salaries of Feb; demonstration in solidarity with the people and school students, protesting dire living conditions. Demonstrators raised slogans demanding military return to barracks and full civil governance, faced excessive violence from police using tear gas. Dongola Resistance Committees organised a demonstration to the Secretariat, refusing the coup, claim full civil governance, chanting: No negotiation, No partnership, No legitimacy to the military junta. So Darfur student demonstrations against rising prices, in particular bread and transportation, demand suspension of prices; many schools did not open doors for fear of spontaneous student protests. Burri forces used live ammunition on peaceful demonstrators; daily demonstrations against killing of 2 demonstrators. Dabanga

Neighbourhood Committees in Khartoum N organised a protest against the coup and solidarity with political detainees and high cost of living. Resistance Comm called on people to participate in March 14 Marches of Millions for Political Detainees: The revolution will continue until the coup is dropped and access to Rule of Law; Sudan is paying for failure of the coup authority, reflected in deterioration of economic and health conditions and educational process, insecurity throughout the country; failed to solve the problems with which they justified the coup.

Khartoum bakeries increased bread prices to 50 SDG a loaf instead of 3 loaves for 1 SDG; price of 100kg flour to 23,000 SDG; 50kg sugar for 20,000 SDG. Soaring prices of transportation, basic consumer goods, sugar, oil, sorghum, millet, wheat, meat. Fuel stations have seen another rise in prices. Prices of spices and popular Ramadan supplies hibiscus, tamarind and baobab fruit rose: greed among a number of traders, with administrative chaos and lack of control of markets after the coup. $US reached 605 SDG, a new record high. Dabanga

Anti-coup youth group Angry Without Borders called to not include political forces in transitional government once the military are removed. The group was prominent in protests following the coup, usually on front lines of demonstrations in Khartoum directly confronting security forces: Reject the scramble for power during the transitional period…People’s Authority Charter proposed by Resistance Committees is the only solution; Our involvement is rejection of dirty practices of the parties during the revolution…We are not pawns in a battle for parties, we are not shields to protect their gains. Resistance Committees during the revolution 2019 had a limited mobilisation role at neighbourhoods level. The movement was spearheaded by Sudanese Professionals Assoc. Now the Comm lead the protests and seek a national structure. The Charter calls to overthrow the military junta, review the Juba Peace Agreement and formation of transitional government structures; signatory groups must not have participated in the previous regime or supported the coup. Comm reject UN-facilitated process, raised the slogan: No partnership, no negotiation, no bargaining (with the army). During the 2-year transitional government Resistance Comm were marginalised. Now they want a significant role to control the transitional government. Sudan Tribune
