Authorities announced a ban on demonstrations in Central Khartoum from the railway to army Command to Nile St. Canada, Norway, Spain, France, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, UK, Rep of Korea, US, Netherlands, EU laments the coup reversed the progress made following the 2018 uprising:…Sudan took important steps in improving human rights protection; we call on authorities to return to commitments to media freedom, safety of journalists, right to peacefully assemble & express opinions free from intimidation

A Committee who defend those affected by detention allege the Police committed grave violations and systematic sexual harassment against minors in Omdurman…policemen on 4-wheel drive vehicles held 2 boys from the street for no apparent reason. They tortured them severely, beating, kicking, tearing their clothes, wounding them in various places with a knife…completely stripped of clothes and had to roam naked…dozens of other minors and young people detained and imprisoned at Central Police Station. Authorities fired tear gas at demonstrators in Burri in an attempt to dismantle barricades set up by Khartoum Resistance Comm expressing solidarity with political detainees. Vigils were held in other neighbourhoods. Wad Madani Resistance Comm organised a sit-in in front of Public Prosecution, denouncing fabrication of charges and torture of detainees. Dabanga

US and Sudanese Pound exchange rate recorded new high of Pound 565…continued collapse of Pound against foreign currencies, increase in price of basic commodities and recession. Natl Umma Party holding authorities responsible for consequences of economic collapse…called government to admit failure and hand over power to civilians…facetiously expressed regret at increase in prices to finance operations terrorising defenceless citizens. Egypt displeased with Sudan for welcoming Russian military base on Sudanese territories, angry over misleading practices by Dagalo during his visit to Cairo. Egyptian officials surprised by Dagalo’s statements in which he welcomed establishment of Russian military base…Cairo considers a threat to Red Sea security. Egyptian authorities oppose establishment of any foreign bases near the borders, demanded Dagalo and Sudanese officials provide clarifications. Middle East Monitor
