Amnesty Intl demands release of Mohamed Adam, 17, and Mohamed El Fateh, 18, detained since Jan 14 on suspicion of killing police officer and subjected to severe torture: there are credible concerns the youths were abducted and held without charge and subjected to torture. Adam, nicknamed Tubak, and El Fateh have been held without charges in connection with stabbing Brig. Bereima during Jan 13 Marches of Millions. The first 3 weeks they were held incommunicado without access to families, lawyer or doctor. Tubak was arrested whilst in hosp after he sustained 2 gunshot wounds in leg. Detainees were questioned about sources of funding behind the protests and members of Resistance Committees, but not about the police brig they were accused of stabbing. Adam was repeatedly beaten on his wounded leg, Fateh was injured in head and hand; both subjected to severe beatings and electric shocks. Tubak’s mother saw that 2 nails had been hammered into his legs. These injuries left him unable to walk, constantly shackled, suffers from swelling in nose due to being hit with rifle butts, swelling behind ear. El Fateh suffered injuries to back. Tubak is on hunger strike. Another lawyer had seen cigarette burns on El Fateh’s head, he had not been allowed visitors: I believe they didn’t want us to see him because he was in bad shape. Dabanga
