War Crimes Byte

Wikileaks sticker orange

By Debra Sweet

One of the important developments in 2010 is that Wikileaks published information which revealed U.S. war crimes and the diplomatic operations of the U.S government.  Instead of prosecuting officials responsible for these crimes, the U.S. government has unleashed a series of vicious attacks on Wikileaks.

The Obama administration is attempting to re-write laws in order to silence Wikileaks.  Assange’s life is threatened in the national media. The U.S. military and State Department has banned personnel from reading these documents. Paypal, Visa, Mastercard and Bank of America ban people from donating to Wikileaks.  But people are resisting such bans. Columbia Journalism professors protested Columbia’s ban, and it was rescinded!

Do people need to know that the U.S. military killed 68 people, including 21 children, in one airstrike in Yemen, a country the U.S. isn’t even at war with? Do they need to know that the U.S. is working with the Pakistani government to wage drone strikes on civilian populations in order to dominate that region?

We say YES!

Download, print and post onto your laptop this sticker.

* and to Lynne Stewart, human rights attorney and a member of World Can’t Wait’s Advisory Board, serving 10 years as a victim of the Bush regimes "war on terror,"  in federal prison.

Wikileaks Sticker White

Debra Sweet, Elaine Brower, Richie Marini, Matthis Chiroux, Ray McGovern and 125 others were arrested at the White House on December 16th. They were released after a few hours. Debra and about 40 others are contesting the fine, and will be in court later this spring. Stay tuned for updates via Facebook & Twitter.

HOLD the date for spring anti-war actions sponsored by World Can’t Wait, Veterans for Peace, ANSWER Coalition and others.  The weekend of March 19/20 2011 marks 8 years since Shock & Awe began the devastation of Iraq.  It’s not over!  We’ll be in Washington and plan on protests around the country.

Speaking out at the white house

Remember there are more leaks to come. I think that the western media basically picked the leaks they would let show on tv. Who has time to read all of the leaks that have even come out yet…and the govt is making it quite hard to access wikileaks. I think that ‘collateral damage’ was worth showing to the world and i do think that is it causing people to be outraged at the senseless video game style killing.

Wikileaks is HELPING to demonize Iran and north Korea to sell more war. That this ‘skeptic’ actually agrees with that effort and characterize it as ‘revealing’ is a really sick view. More war is the last thing this world needs, yet here you are supporting efforts to sell more war. Sad.

There are much better reasons to believe that the US is preparing for war on N. Korea and Iran than anything Wikileaks has done–and much more appropriate forces to expose than Wikileaks in understanding why that is so, and rallying people to oppose such imperialist moves.

Edward, the analysis of that childish article you reference at globalresearch is just as shallow as yours. Wikileaks MUST be a CIA front, it argues, because it claims it is not. Assange MUST be a spook, because the writer couldn’t be bothered to do the research on his background.

The evidence of the utter paroxysms of rage and anger from Democrats and Republicans at the massive and embarrassing document dump by Wikileaks speaks for itself, as does the effort they are expending to smear him and his organization as terrorists, as does the fact that they are bending over backwards to make laws to charge Assange and Wikileaks with crimes that don’t exist, while they have such problems prosecuting REAL criminals with laws that exist against torture.

Of course, they could all just be acting. Of course they could. Anything could happen if you’ve got imagination.

    Dogmatic us vs. them outlook??

Like the one being proposed by the Assange evangelicals who will only tolerate these two choices 1 Us, the good liberals who praise Assange and view him as holy man to be defended and praised, never questioned………or 2 Them, the war loving CNN FoxNews crowd who want Assange arrested and silenced.

No room for simply questioning the obvious fact that most Assange revelations play into the hands of right wing war mongers? Miss anonymous skeptic? Very rigid and hostile in your views on this topic.
Rather than you psycho analytical games, and attempts to smear people with conspiracy labels, maybe you should remember that your loud mouthed bully tactics are the stuff of Bill O’Reilly and that ilk.

globalresearch.ca has several interesting articles on Assange. That site opposes the globalists, opposes war, and has high journalistic standards. It also trusts its readers to look at all sides of an issue. I wish Assange and wiki were for real.

What this nasty little skeptic calls “revelations” about Iran are nothing of the sort. The demonization of Iran by Bush and Obama to pave the way for war there is similar to the lies and orchestrated media campaign that led us to Iraq. That you support this is disgusting. I don’t normally engage in debate with pro war zealots, but since you are masquerading as a liberal, it seems appropriate. I am fed up with war and those who use sneaky dirty tactics to wage it.

Of course, one could argue, much more convincingly I think, that this chorus of First-World-centric “feminists” and conspiracy theorists intent on “raising damning questions” about WikiLeaks are serving the purpose of the imperialists far more than any action taken by that organization.

It takes a conspiracy theorists’ paranoid belief in the omnipotence of the US ruling class to be blinded to the combination of horror and rage with which those powerful forces have responded to Wikileaks’ airing of their dirty laundry.

It takes a conspiracy theorists’ dogmatic us-vs-them outlook to construe revelations regarding North Korea and Iran as “demonization in preparation for war”.

It takes a dishonest hack to run unsubstantiated smears of Assange as having “numerous connections to military, spooks, and wealthy establishmnent media scum”.

Spare us the “trust no one” bullshit, please. We’ve got X Files re-runs for that. The truth revealed in the Wikileaks cables gives us tremendous evidence to mobilize people against these wars. Stop running this nonsense and trying to convince more people that everyone is full of shit, and feeding their cynicism and disempowerment.

Do the Assange leaks demonize Iran and help in the effort to sell war there?
    YES!
Do the Assange leaks demonize North Korea and try to justify war there?
    YES!
Did the Assange leaks trash Cuba on human rights the very day before Cuba announced their biggest pro democracy reforms in history?
    YES!
Did the Assange leaks state that Canada’s RCMP was soft on fighting drugs in 2010 because of the Olympics?
YES…….even though it was a record year for pot possession busts in Canada, even though the Canadian Senate has just passed (in silence) new MANDATORY minimum 6 month jail terms for 5 plants.

Is the Assange situation being used to justify internet censorship by the US, UK and UN?
    YES
Has Assange leaked any damaging information about Israel yet? NO, he is ‘too busy’ so far, but he has had time to leak info about Fatah asking Israel to bomb Hamas in Gaza!!!!!!! Wow!

Does Assange have numerous connections to military, spooks and wealthy establishment media scum?
    YES

Should we be suspicious of corporate media scum?
    YES

Are our right wing fascist rulers sneaky enough to create fake opposition to help them further their goals.
    YES

globalresearch is a site which asks its readers to learn and to think. It does not ask you to blindly support a dubious celebrity like Assange without a bit of critical thinking first.

When you hod hold children in your arms this holiday, think about Ethan McCord holding them from the van, in the first Wiki dump. The smell of feces and blood, paid for by the U.S. taxpayer. Thanks so much for all you do World Can\’t Wait. I am disabled and just above the poverty line. I am so glad to be at this level as to not pay any tax to fund war. I will send you a check next month when I get mine. Please Donate to WCW. Wage Peace…
