Surge of Support Needed: $5,000 in 48 Hours

By Debra Sweet

World Can’t Wait has been able to do some amazing things while operating on a shoestring budget.

We’ve organized War Criminals Watch protests, disrupting business as usual in Grand Central Station, New York, and hounding war criminals like Karl Rove and John Yoo.

We’ve mobilized to support the targeted abortion doctor in Nevada, Dr. LeRoy Carhart, after his colleague, Dr. George Tiller, was murdered.

We broke into national news – twice this year – with large protests shutting down the military’s new video-game based recruitment center in Philadelphia.

We organized the We Are Not Your Soldiers speaking tour, taking the brutal truth about the reality of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to high school students in their classrooms.

We’re leading visible resistance this coming week, the start of the ninth year of the war and occupation of Afghanistan.

While we don’t operate on a shoestring out of principle… even a shoestring wears out!

Donate this coming Monday and Tuesday towards our goal of $5,000 in 48 hours. This will sustain this national movement and its website and office through the fall and enable World Can’t Wait to continue and grow this much-needed resistance movement.

Think of all the amazing things done with so little (and compare but don’t despair at the enormous cost of death and destruction your tax dollars are financing now to the tune of $915 billion!).

Sign up for this online event and write why you want to see a surge of resistance this fall. Invite your friends to join us, either on our website or on Facebook.

P.S. Within the next weeks, President Obama will announce up to 20,000 more troops will deploy to Afghanistan in addition to replacing up to 14,000 support troops with "trigger-pullers." This will only mean increasing the death and destruction brought to the Afghan people. And U.S. involvement in Iraq is not only not over, but is becoming a permanent occupation. Show what kind of surge you want next Monday and Tuesday.

It seems like the capitalist-imperialist system that we live under does a lot of hating of others. And this system whether you want to come to grips with it or not has done a lot on its own in other countries to create hate for the U.S. As for saying they hated us long before we entered their country I’d like to ask you this question who created, armed, and funded the Taliban that our government says we must defeat-the U.S. that’s who.

Laura, SSgt Dominick is retired from the Air Force, hence the USAF(R)

She is not in Iraq or Afghanistan.

If you were as educated as you obviously think you are, you would’ve known that. When people stop volunteering for the U.S. Military, you will see what happens. There will be a draft. And if you get your way and there isn’t a draft, then someone is going to attack us and you’re going to die. Plain and simple truth right there. As long as someone in the world hates us, we are going to need protection. And, in case you think they hate us because we’re in there country, they hated us long before we entered there land. They want us dead, and If you would like to lead the way to getting rid of our military, then you can lead the way to being killed by our enemies when they attack us.

tell the soldiers to stop fighting for empire. Killing Iraqis and bombing Afghan wedding parties is not protecting freedom. I don’t support the troops. I support the people of the world. Kathi, As long as you stay in Iraq and Afghanistan where you are not fucking wanted, we are not going to leave, we are staying in this country and taking responsibility to stop the war crimes being committed by the U.S. military in our names. U.S. Out Of Iraq and Afghanistan!

I would just like to add that as a former soldier and as an army civilian that what you are doing is your choice but do realize this one fact if no one volunteers then they will still have plenty of soldiers it is called selective service IE the draft.

I just wanted to say that soldiers don’t get to choose where they want to fight. We go where needed. Also, if it weren’t for the military fighting for the country that we all hold dear, these events of yours wouldn’t happen. No one wants to go into battle, but better “over there” than on our our soil. Just remember that since 1776 our freedom of speech, the right to bear arms and the right to congrgate peacefully hasn’t been free. Freedom requires sacrifice and if you don’t like it- GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY! You have the freedom to move to Mexico, Russia or anywhere else. Soldiers don’t always agree with the policies and decisions made, but if what my fellow soldiers and I sacrifice helps just 1 female Afgahn, or 1 Iraqui , then that’s what we’re here for. Unless you have walked in our boots you really have no right to judge. Thank You and thank a soldier for their sacrifice. SSgt K. Dominick, USAFR
