At March in Washington DC, January 27: World Can’t Wait–Drive Out the Bush Regime says: To Stop the War, Bush Must Go!
World Can””t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime will be in Washington DC on January 27, bringing to the national anti-war demonstration the demand for 2007: Impeach Bush for War Crimes!
Debra Sweet, director of World Can’t Wait, says: “After millions
voted against the war, lies and torture, what did we get? More troops
and the threat of a cataclysmic war with Iran. As Daniel Ellsberg put
it recently, today’s moment takes us back to 1974, when ending the war
required removal of a president. The impeachment process against Nixon
began with the exposure of his secret war on Cambodia, unsupported by
the population and unknown to Congress. The parallels are obvious, but
so far the Democratic leadership has declared impeachment off the
table. It is unconscionable to let the carnage go on. The people must
remove this criminal regime before 2008 — when it could well be too
late.”
World Can’t Wait will be highly visible — carrying neon orange
posters declaring “END THE WAR NOW– IMPEACH BUSH FOR WAR CRIMES”.
Hundreds will join a contingent wearing orange jumpsuits to
represent detainees at Guantanamo Bay who are now being legally
tortured. denied habeas corpus under the Military Commissions Act.
World Can’t Wait will gather at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at 4th Street
& Madison Drive in Washington D.C. World Can’t Wait will also be at
the Los Angeles and San Francisco demonstrations on Jan. 27.
At the march, the organization will distribute 100,000 copies of the
World Can’t Wait Call, which states: “That which you do not resist and
mobilize to stop, you will learn — or be forced to — accept.”
