In its guidelines for the treatment of detainees, the Pentagon has
decided not to include the Geneva Conventions’ ban on “humiliating and
degrading treatment”, providing a legal justification for
torture. These guidelines are what will be used in field manuals
for soldiers. That after all the worldwide outrage over US
torture chambers and massacres of Iraqi civilians, the government would
allow for torture and go against basic precepts of international law is
telling of just what kind of future the Bush regime is determined to
cement into place.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
