The Senate intelligence committee approved Gen. Hayden’s nomination
as head of the CIA in a 12-3 vote despite the fact that he presided
over and blatantly lied about the NSA’s warrantless spying on tens of
millions of Americans.
Republican Sen. Pat Roberts, the head of
the intelligence committee, expects Hayden to pass through a full
Senate vote this week. Unfortunately, he’s probably right.
A majority of the Democrats on the intelligence committee already
approved Hayden, and after the Democrats have allowed Roberts and Alito
to make it onto the Supreme Court, done nothing to hold the Bush
administration accountable for the illegal NSA spying or the blatant
lies to justify the war, why would anyone expect them to oppose
this? We’ll probably just hear the same excuse of “we have to
wait until we retake Congress before we can do anything”.
With a
database of phone records of tens of millions of Americans in the hands
of a regime that has no qualms about torturing people or enacting
draconian police state measures, can you really wait another day to
oppose and stop this?
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
