For anyone who thought the NSA’s warrantless wiretaps were
only directed at a small portion of the population, think again. USA Today just revealed that the NSA has
built up a database with the phone records of tens of millions of Americans
without any warrants.
Verizon, BellSouth and AT&T (who together have more than
200 million customers) all provided telephone records to the NSA. One source told USA Today, “It’s the
largest database ever assembled in the world,” and added that the NSA’s
goal is “to create a database of every call ever made”.
While the NSA isn’t listening in to these phone calls, what
they are doing is keeping records on who’s calling who. Clearly this isn’t about suspected terrorist
activity, but is aimed at suppressing dissent and building up a police state
apparatus that can monitor the entire population (without warrants or court
records). This secret database is
contrary to what Bush said the NSA was doing (eavesdropping on conversations
between people in America
and other countries suspected of terrorist activity). In other words, BUSH WAS LYING again, while
blatantly illegal and fascistic actions were being carried out by his orders.
The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!
