On Friday, May 13, World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush
Regime is holding counter protests against theocracy in response to Battle
Cry, a theocratic movement focusing on indoctrinating and mobilizing youth, who
are holding rallies at City Halls across the country. Over the weekend,
Battle Cry is holding a stadium concert/indoctrination event at the Wachovia Center
in Philadelphia. World
Can’t Wait will be there to protest, calling on the
young attendees to seek the truth and to critically think.
Battle Cry’s leader, Ron Luce, a Bush
appointee, says, ‘This is war. And Jesus invites us to get into the
action, telling us that the violent — the âforceful’ ones — will lay hold of
the kingdom.’ Battle Cry
Partners include Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.
World Can’t Wait is a movement aiming
to drive out the Bush regime and reverse its program of unjust war, torture,
attacks on gays and women, and theocracy. This movement includes figures
such as Sean Penn, Cindy Sheehan, Mark Ruffalo, Harold Pinter, Gore Vidal,
Susan Sarandon, Cornel West, Lewis Lapham, Jessie Jackson, and US Rep. John
Conyers.
After protesting Battle Cry in San Francisco March 27,

debated Ron Luce on Fox TV’s ‘O’Reilly Factor.’ [watch clip]
Afterwards, Sunsara said, “We
agree that there is a moral crises in
this country, but âBattle Cry’ gets it all wrong. This government is
torturing and carrying out an unjust war in Iraq based on lies. Women are
losing our rights to abortion and birth control. Gays are under
attack. The real challenge for young people looking to live a moral and
meaningful life is be part of the movement to drive out the Bush regime.
‘Anyone who has been waiting to protest until
fundamentalists are holding fascist rallies in large stadiums need not wait any
longer. Battle Cry aims to indoctrinate youth in a particular brand of hateful
Christianity based on a literal interpretation of the Bible. We will be there to
challenge youth to see their actions in the context of the horrible future Bush
is bringing into being, to confront this program, and to raise our banner to
Drive Out the Bush Regime!’
