Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.
A 16-year-old Latino was beaten, sodomized with a pipe, and left for dead by two white teenagers for trying to kiss a white girl. This modern-day lynching took place at a house party Saturday night, when the attackers forced the Latino teenager out of the party, shouted racist epithets, and proceeded to nearly kill him in a vicious display of violent bigotry. They even poured bleach over their victim to cover up the attack. The Latino teenager is now in the hospital and may not survive. The attackers are now in jail, but are not yet charged with a hate crime.
That a 16-year-old Latino could be lynched for the “crime” of trying to kiss a white girl is indicative of the atmosphere of bigotry and intolerance being whipped up by far right forces inside and outside of the government. When the Minutemen and politicians like Sensenbrenner spew virulently anti-immigrant hatred, and virtually every government figure, from Bush to Hillary Clinton, talk about “the immigration problem” and “protecting our border”, it should come as no surprise that two white teenagers thought it was okay to carry out this racist attack. Just as in the Jim Crow south, where racist violence found support from the official political structure, today under the Bush regime violent attacks on gays, immigrants, and dissidents flourish (not to mention that inside the military, torture, massacres of civilians, and racist dehumanization of occupied people are fostered by the regime in power).
Who let the brownshirts out?
