Unite to Stop Attacks on Immigrants!
UNITE TO DRIVE OUT THE BUSH REGIME!
NYC World Can’t Wait Drive Out the Bush Regime are calling for student walkouts to protest the criminalization and repression of immigrants in the U.S, especially what is represented in the Sensenbrenner bill (HR4437), which would make those without papers and anyone who helps them in anyway (even giving a glass of water) felons.

SAY NO TO ANTI-IMMIGRATION LEGISLATION!!
What is the Sensenbrenner Bill and why should we be outraged??
The Sensenbrenner Bill, also known as HR4437, was passed last year by the House of Representatives in December. This week is the final vote on this bill in Congress, and there are many good reasons why we should be concerned!
HR4437 Would Put Following Into Law:
– It would make it a felony to be in this country without legal status.
– It would make it a felony to extend any help to people who are undocumented.
– It would also call for a 700-mile wall along the Mexican-American border.
What Does It All Mean?
All this means that people can be deported, they can be imprisoned, families can be torn apart, the local police can take federal laws into their own hands…There is no savior in Congress. There is no savior in the Democratic Party. The only savior we have is ourselves fighting in the streets.
The Bush Administration is telling us that immigrants are “criminals”.
WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING?
Immigrants cross the border to work and survive while the biggest criminals in the world are in the White House. The Bush regime tortures and defends it. It launches unjust and illegitimate wars based on lies. It militarizes the border, causing the death of thousands. It builds concentration camps for immigrants. It arrests immigrants, detains them without the right to see their lawyers or family, and secretly deports them. This anti-immigration bill is supposedly being passed in order to enhance border security, but think about where this country has been heading… We keep hearing about the “minutemen” who have been killing Mexicans in cold blood that cross the border, security cameras, motion detectors…
When Does It All End????
The attack on immigrants is a cornerstone of a fascist program. If we want to defeat it, we must organize a movement of millions in the streets to stop it.
No militarization of the border. No discrimination. No criminalization. No anti-immigrant laws.
Hundreds of Thousands of Students all over the United States have walked out of class in order to fight this bill. Last week 500,000 people poured out into the streets in opposition to this bill. This week, 700,000 people in Los Angeles said NO!! to the Sensenbrenner Bill.

Message from National Steering Committee of World Can’t Wait:
The upcoming rallies supporting immigrants’ rights on Monday, April 10 (and the increasing student walk-outs) are events which World Can’t Wait should participate in and support in a big way. These outpourings of the last two weeks, which really are unprecedented in their intensity and breadth, are important: people taking to the streets to oppose dangerous actions of the government in the country in which they live. People have been very open to the message “The World Can’t Wait – Drive Out the Bush Regime”. We’re asking for input and thinking from all of you watching and participating, and thinking about how World Can’t Wait can bring in the approach of Drive Out the Bush Regime. Chapters should take a lot of initiative in supporting and building these protests. Look over the reports and materials used by Chicago and LA especially. The National office is preparing buttons for spring use; there will be a new WCW flyer, and is open to suggestions and contributions from the chapters on what is needed. We are taking political guidance from our Call: “We need more than fighting Bush’s outrages one at a time, constantly losing ground to the whole onslaught.” and “That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept. There is no escaping it: the whole disastrous course of this Bush regime must be STOPPED.”
It’s very important that WE help pull out many non-immigrants to protest these attacks on immigrants’ rights.
Tenafly Community, in conjunction with the national movement, World Can’t Wait, plans rally to demand Bush Step Down!
On March 31st at 3:00 PM students and faculty will congregate in front of Tenafly High School united by one resolve: Bush Step Down And Take Your Program With You! Invitations for this event have also been extended to Senator Weinberg, Senator Baer, Assemblymen Johnson, Mayor Rustin, and Superintendent Sherman.
Activists will be representing World Can’t Wait, an organization that has been responsible for many local protests, including the sixty person protest in Ridgewood on January 31st. Strings of protests across the country indicate that citizens of America have begun to wake up to the horrors that the Bush Administration has inflicted not only on America, but on the world itself.
Students have created a 6 by 10 foot banner that says “Bush Step Down”. The banner also contains two peace signs to indicate the mentality of the protestors. All three colors of the American Flag are included on the banner to show that people against the President are not excluded from being patriots. One student will be wearing an orange prison suit like those worn by detainees at Guantanamo Bay. He will be masked with a hood similar to the images that were seen in torture photos of the victims at Abu Gharib prison. This student will have a leash attached to his outfit and will walk from bystander to bystander asking them to hold this ââ¬Å”leash of torture. He will explain that this leash is in their hands every day, and American apathy is what allows the torture of innocent victims to continue.
Students hope to raise awareness about these pertinent current events and spread their message to all who view this demonstration. Most importantly this rally will serve as a precedent for other schools in Bergen County to follow. This rally will serve as a model for other high schools in the nation to follow. The President’s polices have created a growing unrest among the citizens of America, and once more people will take to the streets and make their demands. An increasing number of students in Tenafly believe that the World Can’t Wait!
