David Horowitz, self-described “battering ram” for the right
wing, has released a new book, “The Professors: The 101
Most Dangerous Academics in America“, which is
nothing but a hit-list. Horowitz’ “academic freedom” movement is organizing campus
brown-shirts to spy on and have fired any professors who say anything against
the Bush regime’s fascist program, as well as dismantle ethnic, peace, and
gender studies programs. If this were Germany
in 1933, Horowitz would be organizing book-burnings on campuses. Today
the tactics might be a little different, but the intent and effect is
the same ( intimidate
and fire any professors who would criticize government policy and
create a climate
on campuses favorable to the fascist direction of society.
Here’s an idea: in response to Horowitz’ latest book, what
if campuses across the country sponsor speaking events for the 101 professors
on the hit-list. This would be a public repudiation of the moves toward
silencing dissent and critical thought on campuses. And instead of succeeding in
silencing these professors, Horowitz’ book would spur a wave of resistance so
urgently needed on campuses. These speaking events could even be titled “Hear from
a Professor on the Right-Wing’s Hit-List.” Such action would step out of the
stifling atmosphere of fascist purges on campuses going on right now and
actually take the political offensive.
Pick your favorite “most dangerous academic” from Horowitz’
hit-list and bring them to your campus.

Jensen, one of the 101 professors (click here).
