MASS PROTESTS DEMAND BUSH STEP DOWN

In demonstrations in 68 cities across the country tonight, people are
answering President Bush’s State of the Union address with a sharp
message: the State of Union is a State of Emergency. In protests
organized by the World Can’t Wait(Drive Out the Bush Regime movement,
people are declaring that they are going to bring the demand: Bush Step
Down to Washington DC this coming Saturday, February 4.

Never before has a president’s State of the
Union speech been met with mass national protest determined that an
administration be driven out of office and its program repudiated. The
protests herald a movement that recognizes that politics as usual is
insufficient. War, torture, the rule of law and separation of church
and state eviscerated) When the Supreme Court nomination of an extreme
rightwing judicial nominee essentially goes unopposed(the people are
taking history into their hands.

Tomorrow the news will not just be Bush’s speech. Nor will it be just
the Democratic Party’s petty amendments and hand-wringing. To get the
story of these mass protests, call World Can’t Wait press office at
866-973-4463 ext 4. Spokespeople and signatories on the World Can’t
Wait Call are available for commentary.

NATIONAL RALLY at WHITE HOUSE SATURDAY, FEB. 4
