Yesterday, FEMA announced that it will stop paying for hotel rooms
for the evacuees from Hurricane Katrina at the beginning of next month.
Over 53,000 families will be thrown onto the streets simply because the
federal government no longer feels like paying for their housing –
while it was the federal government which cut funding for levees in New
Orleans before Katrina and caused the destruction of hundreds of
thousands of people’s homes!
And local politicians are falling in line with the federal government.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry stated, “We recognize and agree with FEMA’s
decision to make personal responsibility a part of the hurricane
recovery process.” Indeed, let’s make personal responsibility a part of
the hurricane recovery process — by holding Bush and his criminal
regime personally accountable for the loss of life and destruction
caused by inadequate preparation for the hurricane. The world can’t
wait, drive out the Bush regime!
