Daniel Montoly, poet and writer from the Dominican Republic, at the Cleveland rally:
‘Today is an historic day because we the people started one big
campaign to drive out the Bush regime from the White House. This
campaign won’t stop until the âDeath Machine’that is running the White
House is completely wiped from power and rebuild a new world without
injustice and oppression. I came from the Dominican Republic, one small
country in the Caribbean. My country was occupied twice by the American
government in the 20th century. For this reason, I know what it means
to be an occupied people and to live in a miserable situation. LOOK,
LOOK, 100,000 civilians are dead and the whole country of Iraq is a
nightmare. We, the people, white, African American, Asian, Latino, we
have to stop the genocide against humanity. Another world is possible,
We need to rebuild a new world with justice and peace for everybody.’
