The world faces a dire situation. The Bush regime is pushing forward with its unjust wars in Afghanistan & Iraq, and now aiming to attack Iran, with the death toll mounting. A new government spy program or database seems to come to light every week, pointing to the danger of a fascist police state being cemented into place. Torture is now legal. Habeas corpus has been gutted. The government’s refusal to do anything meaningful to stop global warming (and its suppression of scientists) threatens the future of the planet. And moves toward establishing a theocracy in the US threaten the rights of women, gays, and critical thought, and would make a horror of a society for everyone.
Even with a Democratic majority now in Congress, all
this has continued, and will continue after the 2008 election if it is
not stopped…by us.
It must be the mission of
this generation to drive out the Bush regime and bring to a halt all
its crimes. So think about what your plans are this summer – and think
about what the future will look like if we don’t stop this disastrous
direction.

Below are some of the positions needed to be filled for the summer and beyond. Besides whatever particular responsibility you take on, internships with World Can’t Wait will be a diverse, politically charged experience, and everyone will spend time immersed in all the important political questions and the latest events in the world.
Office Manager: Coordinate the national office of WCW.
Youth organizers: Make driving out the Bush regime the mission of this generation. Organize the thousands of youth who have signed up with WCW, travel to events and concerts to reach out to youth, get in touch with different student groups, etc.
Event Coordinaters: Coordinate protests, teach-ins, conferences, etc.
Press: Write press releases, work to get WCW covered in the media.
Website: People with the technical skills to maintain and develop WCW website.
Writers: To write articles for WCW website, flyers, statements, etc.
Graphic Designers: To design flyers, ads, stickers & posters, webgraphics, merchandise, etc.
Office Volunteers: To follow-up sign-up sheets, etc.
Summer Concerts: WCW intends to table summer concert tours and festivals, and needs volunteers to travel on summer tours. Last summer, 3 punk rockers from Indiana loaded a van up with WCW materials and traveled with the Warped Tour, surviving off of Monster energy drinks and their determination to drive out the Bush regime.
Videographers: Film events, edit footage, and produce dvd’s and internet videos.
